“English in Action” – A Week Full of English and Creativity

In February our class took part in the “English in Action” workshop. Our teacher for the week, Richard, was really nice, friendly, open-minded and very supportive. He created a positive atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable speaking English.

Every day we practised our English for six lessons, and we definitely made progress. Each day we focused on a different topic. The main topics of the week were London, crime, sports and movies. To learn more about these topics, we played many funny and interactive games.

One especially interesting lesson was the crime lesson. For example, we had to describe a murderer and explain in detail what he looked like. This helped us practise vocabulary and speaking in a creative way.

Besides playing games, we also worked on our own projects. Some groups created board games, others made mangas, comics, magazines or DIY tutorials, and one group even invented a new sports game. We also prepared short presentations to show our work to the class.

At the end of the week we performed our self-written theatre shows. Acting them out was a lot of fun and a great way to use our English in a creative way. The theatre show was definitely one of the highlights of the week.

Our teacher Richard was always kind and helpful. He answered our questions and encouraged us to speak without being afraid of making mistakes. Because of that, we improved our self-confidence in speaking English.

At first, we were a bit sceptical, but the lessons quickly became full of energy and fun. The workshop was very different from a normal school week. Richard even taught grammar topics in a funny and engaging way.

One small criticism might be that some tasks were a bit too easy. Next time we would probably choose a slightly higher level. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun and learned many new English skills.

All in all, the workshop “English in Action” was a very cool and exciting experience. We played games, created projects and even prepared theatre plays – everything in English. Our class did a great job, and we would definitely recommend this workshop to other students.
