Reading, creating, presenting in English – bringing stories and poems to life
This semester, we did cool “book-in-a-box” presentations in our English class. First, we went to the school library to enjoy a D.E.A.R. lesson, which means “Drop Everything and Read.” So, we searched an English book we liked and read for the rest of the lesson.
Over the next few weeks, we had time to finish reading the book from the library or a book from home. Then we prepared our presentations. We decorated the outside of a shoebox, and we filled it with different objects that we associate with the book.
In class, we presented our boxes in small groups. In another lesson we showed them to our classmates from the English group 2ab. We liked the book presentations. They were fantastic and really special. All those books are very interesting and cool and it was great fun to present them to each other.
The students from the other group also shared something with us: a nature poem they wrote themselves. We think there are some great poets in the making in this class! See for yourself. The poem is right below.
